MOTORISTS are being reminded to pay extra attention to vehicle security and not leave valuable items on show after thieves broke into four vehicles along Poplar Avenue in Gorleston.
MOTORISTS are being reminded to pay extra attention to vehicle security and not leave valuable items on show after thieves broke into four vehicles along Poplar Avenue in Gorleston.
Nothing was stolen during the break-ins, but police are warning vehicle owners to ensure their cars are left locked and secure at all times and that all property has been removed from inside.
The incidents occurred between 12.30am and 1.30am today.
Police are asking vehicle owners to take all necessary steps to prevent their vehicle from being targeted. These include:
Locking all doors and windows and removing keys from the ignition - even if the vehicle is only being left for a minute or two.
Removing stereos and expensive car audio equipment, preferably entirely or at least from view.
Removing Sat Nav equipment and cradle and any evidence of this - by wiping any marks left of the windscreen.
Removing handbags, purses, laptops and other valuables entirely from the vehicle
Where possible parking at a secure location, close to street lights or CCTV.
