DOCK workers from across the country will join their colleagues in Great Yarmouth on Thursday for a protest over job cuts. It follows the axing of 11 jobs at EastPort Cargo Handling - a move which has angered workers and Unite union members in the face of an expanding port.

It follows the axing of 11 jobs at EastPort Cargo Handling - a move which has angered workers and Unite union members in the face of an expanding port.
Unite members from Felixstowe, Thamesport, Dover, the Humber and Southampton will gather outside the EastPort UK headquarters on South Quay, Yarmouth, at 4.30pm on Thursday. They were due to be addressed by the union's national secretary, Brendan Gold.
Speaking ahead of the protest Victor Brazkiewicz, Unite regional industrial organiser, said: “We are delighted with the support we are receiving from colleagues in other ports as well as the support received from the local Yarmouth community.
“At Yarmouth the workforce is committed to continuing the campaign for permanent jobs and they have the total support of the union in their endeavours.”
The cuts have angered workers in the face of an expanding port with the �50m outer harbour project expected to be commercially operational later this year.
