A man has been charged with assaulting three police officers in connection with an incident in Great Yarmouth.

Samuel Wells, 36 and from Kent, has been charged with assaulting three police officers and charged with three public order offences “with one being racially aggravated and theft from shops”, Great Yarmouth police said on Twitter on Wednesday night.

It comes after an incident outside the shop on Regent Road at about 5.30pm on Tuesday.

It saw four police officers called, who wrestled a man to the ground and eventually sat on him while he was arrested.

The man was taken away in a riot van to Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre.

Police said Wells had been remanded in custody to attend court.
