Power was cut in the Trafalgar Road West area at 5pm by engineers from EDF Energy who managed to restore the electric to 18 customers at 8.30pm and the final 133 homes 30 minutes later.
Firefighters from Yarmouth were called and used a thermal imaging camera to check for hot spots, but the fire had been extinguished by the time they arrived.
A spokeswoman for EDF Energy said a fault had developed in an underground electricity network. She added: “We would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused.”
