A Great Yarmouth pre-school scored consistent “goods” across 17 categories that tested everything from management to fun.
The 78 children on roll at Northgate St Andrew's pre-school are happy and well-motivated according to the Ofsted inspector who visited in May and said in his report: “The pre-school meets the needs of the early years' children well...A good sense of fun permeates all of the children's activities inside and out.”
He added that everyone made progress and that the manager was enthusiastic.
The school opened in 2006 and is run by a committee from a separate building within the grounds of its host - the Northgate St Andrew's Infant School in Northgate Street.
The children are said to understand the benefits of keeping healthy and active, and to recognise the value of modern technology in their everyday lives. Different religious and cultural festivals are celebrated, often through cooking and baking. There are attractive quiet areas for children to sit and relax. The only thing the pre-school could do better is to make sure all staff views are taken into account as part of the self-evaluation process.
