Prisoner lashes out in Yarmouth cells

Police had to be called to help restrain a prisoner who started lashing out while in the cells waiting to appear at Great Yarmouth Magistrates' Court.Norfolk police confirmed they were called to the court, in North Quay, just after 10am today after a prisoner in custody started to damage their cell.

Norfolk police confirmed they were called to the court, in North Quay, just after 10am today after a prisoner in custody started to damage their cell.

Police officers and security staff helped restrain the man, who was taken back to Norwich Prison.

But following the incident, a member of the security staff, in their 50s, started complaining of chest pains and had to be taken to the James Paget University Hospital by ambulance.
