For Yarmouth High School year 11 students it was an evening not to be forgotten as 100 of the 16 year olds, dressed in their finest gowns and dinner jackets, celebrating leaving and embarking on their next step in life.

Students arrived in an array of transport, including an open top double-decker bus, a stretch limousine, vintage car and a horse and carriage.

The catering for the prom was in-house organised by staff member Theresa Cooper and her husband John who is also head of year, and the cake was made by teacher Peter Jones.

Organiser Nicole Fenton, a year 11 student herself, described it as a night of glitz and glamour.

She said: “We all danced the night away. Everyone was very happy to be there but there was a bit of sadness as we shall be going our own separate ways, although we will all keep in touch with each other. I think it was a great success.”
