PUPILS from four local high schools enjoyed a three-day half term media course at Great Yarmouth College.

Year Seven pupils from Caister, Cliff Park, Oriel and Lynn Grove schools got the chance to work with media experts and professional equipment on radio and television projects.

The course included script writing, filming, directing, post production, recording and editing with pupils naming and presenting their radio shows.

It finished with a visit to Anglia TV studios in Norwich where they got the chance to see a show being produced and broadcast as well as meet presenters and the production team.

The course was provided by Picture This Media Experience partners Helen McDermott and Malcolm James and funded by the Partnership of East Norfolk Schools' Gifted and Talented strand.

Jane Maguire, from the East Norfolk Schools Partnership, said the event provided the unique chance not only to work with experts and professional equipment but with other pupils from local high schools.

She said: “This has been a fantastic, once in a lifetime experience.”

Former Anglia TV presenter Helen McDermott said: “It is really wonderful to be able to give enthusiastic youngsters an insight into the fast expanding media field.”

Malcolm James said it was refreshing to offer a realistic insight into media and explain first hand how things really work.
