Pupils from five Norfolk schools will take part in the local heat of the Rotary Young Chef Competition on Monday, when they will be devising and cooking a three-course, healthy meal for two for less than £14.

The competition, which aims to encourage young people to develop their cookery and food presentation skills, will take place at Flegg High School, Somerton Road, Martham, near Yarmouth.

It will be judged by Richard Hughes, chef/proprietor of the Lavender House restaurant and cookery school in Brundall.

The winner will get one-to-one cookery tuition at the Lavender House when they will have the chance to cook a meal for their relatives or friends, and they will go on to compete in the District Rotary Young Chef Competition in February.

Participants in the heat at Flegg High include Siobhan Sweeney and Antonia Dale from Flegg High, Joshua Page and Matthew Hurn from Acle High, Haidee de Fraine and Rebeckah Mitchell from Broadland High, Chelsea Dyke and Nicola Charman from Cromer High, and Martha Jones and Antonia Culverhouse from Yarmouth High.
