THE second Stokesby Beer Festival over the weekend – with the promise of a dozen local ales served by buxom wenches.
The event will take place in the community centre from 5pm to 11pm tomorrow and noon to 11pm on Saturday and Sunday.
Villagers Paul Cowell, Phil Harlow and Nigel Hall are staging the event to raise money to refurbish the village hall.
As well as a variety of beers, including four from Attleborough’s Wolf Brewery, there will be a choice of Norfolk ciders. The beers on offer will cater for all tastes.
Traditionally cooked local herring will be on offer, along with sausages and burgers from a barbecue. Wines and soft drinks will also be available.
Local instrumental group the Stokesby Strummers will perform on Saturday evening and the event will be rounded off with a quiz on Sunday night.
Mr Cowell said: “Last year’s beer festival was so successful that we decided to make it an annual event.
“The aim is to plough money back into the community. Last year we bought a big television for the village hall so people could watch the World Cup. This time we want to redecorate the hall.”
He said that last year’s quiz proved to be especially popular, with 55 people taking part.
