A MAN from Acle has been fined £1,000 for organising an illegal rave at a Norfolk beauty spot.

Daniel Bedwell, of Old Road, was also ordered to hand over his music equipment for destruction after organising the rave at Horsey Gap between April 11 and 14.

Bedwell, 21, appeared at Great Yarmouth Magistrates Court this morning charged with carrying on an unauthorised licensable activity.

Magistrates ordered for all of Bedwell's equipment to be destroyed and imposed a £1,000 fine.

Deputy Chief Constable, Ian Learmonth, said: “Today's case highlights that Norfolk Constabulary will seek to prosecute and secure convictions against those involved in the organisation of illegal raves. The force has a zero-tolerance approach to illegal gatherings in Norfolk and is working particularly closely with other forces and partner agencies, including the National Trust. This is to ensure that such events, which are unsafe and disruptive to our local communities, are dealt with effectively.

“It is vital that we do all we can to protect our local countryside and the people living within those areas from these kinds of events.

“I also want to make it quite clear that we will continue to use all necessary resources to prevent, disrupt and close down illegal raves in this county and we will continue to take a hard line against them.”
