Doing something funny for money will be the mantra when Great Yarmouth’s Specsavers store raises cash for Red Nose Day.

The Market Place opticians is organising a host of fundraising activities for this year’s Comic Relief.

There will be a Red Nose Day themed bake sale, with all proceeds going to the cause, and a guess the number of sweets in the jar competition. Winners will receive a prize of single-vision designer glasses, from the store’s extensive range and a frame styling session from Bea Bell.

Martin McCormack, store director said: “The team has had great fun planning our fundraising activities and we want to go all out to raise as much money for the cause as possible. We are encouraging everyone, whatever age, to join in the fun and buy their Red Nose Day glasses – making their faces funny for money.”

On March 7, there will be a dedicated photobooth in store, encouraging visitors to have their snaps taken in their Red Nose Day specs. The glasses are on sale for £3 with £1 going to Comic Relief.

Red Nose Day takes place on Friday, March 13. The money raised helps poor and vulnerable people living tough lives both here in the UK and across Africa.
