A book on the history of Reedham’s football club has resulted in a £252 donation to the Priscilla Bacon Lodge palliative care centre.

The donation came from the proceeds of Reedham Football Club: 40 years of memories 1946 to 1996.

The donation was made in memory of Albert ‘Gandy’ Mallet who passed away at the lodge at Colman Hospital in Norwich, in March 2015.

He played for Reedham from the late 1950s to the early 1980s and his funeral was attended by a large number of ex Reedham footballers.

Ex-players Malcolm Forder and Keith Patterson then decided to arrange a club reunion with 70 old friends meeting up at the Reedham Ship.

Mr Patterson’s son Alex assembled a number of old photos and match reports for the evening and decided to turn the information into a book charting the club from reforming in 1946 through to 1986 when the club folded for a few seasons.
