The latest problem to hit Haven Bridge in Great Yarmouth has been repaired, Norfolk County Council has said.

The repairs were carried out from 7pm on Thursday night as it was lifted so engineers from Peel Ports could work on it.

A statement from the county council said: “Last night Peel Ports engineers lifted Haven Bridge and made further repairs. They’re now happy that it has returned to normal service.”

The latest problem to hit the crossing happened on Thursday, June 21 leading to traffic chaos and vessels being stranded.

Thursday night’s bridge lifting and road closure was the second of its kind this week as part of the repair process.

Haven Bridge is owned by Norfolk County Council and maintained/operated on their behalf by Peel Ports.

The council had planned for up to five closures of the bridge as part of the repair process.

It has also commissioned reports to look at the best long-term solutions relating to problems with the bridge and possible funding sources.
