Right turn out of station and Asda junction to be introduced in the new year

It will soon be all right to turn right at a busy Great Yarmouth junction with improvement work to begin in the new year.
Currently, motorists wishing to get into Great Yarmouth town centre from the railway station or Asda, are required to turn left onto Acle New Road and double back on themselves around the Vauxhall roundabout.
However, Norfolk County Council has announced work will begin on January 8 to add a right turn lane to this junction.
Full details of how this will be achieved remain unclear, but it would see the removal of part of the central island in front of the junction.
It is part of an ongoing scheme to improve traffic conditions around the town centre, which is including works to the Vauxhall roundabout and North Quay.
Mick Castle, Norfolk County Councillor for Yarmouth north and central division, said: “There has been an awful lot of highways works this autumn and winter - and there is still more to come- but I for one am really pleased to see work on the rail station/Asda right turn coming to fruition in January.
“Once completed, it will make a real difference to traffic flow in and out of town and should be appreciated by locals and visitors alike.”
The works will not come without their delays however, with the £400,000 project not scheduled for completion until the end of May.
During this period there will be a series of multi-way traffic signals and lane closures to control traffic in each direction.
Meanwhile, motorists will get a brief festive respite from the works on the Fuller’s Hill roundabout and North Quay, with lane closures lifted from this weekend until Monday, January 8.
Once this work gets back under way, the roundabout will be closed between 7pm and 6am from seven nights - from Monday, January 15 until Monday, January 22.
The second phase will also see resurfacing work carried out to The Conge, including the addition of new crossing points and wider pavements.
Stretches of this road will therefore be closed between January and the end of March.
