More than 450 guests attended the Great Yarmouth and Gorleston Ladies Lifeboat Guild’s annual Lifeboat Ball at the Ocean Rooms, Gorleston.

And the event was hailed a great success raising a wonderful sum of £12,400 for the offshore and inshore lifeboats based on the riverside at Gorleston.

The guests enjoyed a three-course meal cooked by celebratory chef Mark Dixon of the King’s Arms in Fleggburgh and his brigade.

The lifeboat crew showed a video of their rescues during the last year, as well as exercises, prompting loud applause from the guests.

The Mayor of Great Yarmouth, Cllr Kerry Robinson-Payne proposed the health of the crew and their partners and the Lee Vasey Band entertained.

Charles Bycroft auctioned a generously donated week’s stay in the Cotswolds raising £2,000 and Glen Hurren presented a cheque for £15,000 on behalf of the staff at Asco. The guild and crew thank all local businesses who supported the tombola.
