Transport improvement work in Great Yarmouth will see road resurfacing carried out on North Quay and The Conge from this weekend.

The first phase involves North Quay, including with junction with The Conge, on Saturday and Sunday. Sunday will also see work in the Conge area nearest North Quay on Sunday.

Then on Monday work is due to start on the stretch of The Conge from George Street junction to Howard Street North.

On Tuesday the work will cover The Conge from Howard Street and Church Plain junctions to police station exit and the final phase in on Sunday, March 11 along The Conge from the police station exit to the Market Place car park exit. Road closures will be in place during these times, except for North Quay which will be carried out under multi-way signals, although the junction of The Conge will be closed during this phase of works.

Access will be restricted during this time and the county council asks that deliveries to businesses are deferred where possible. Signed diversion routes will be in place.

These dates may be subject to change due to unforeseen events and impact by weather. This work is being carried out over the winter months in order to avoid the town’s peak tourist season and therefore minimise the impact on the town.

The works are being funded from the Local Enterprise Partnership and are being carried out to improve the appearance and user experience of the route from the station to the town centre, and to improve footfall and user safety.

The County Council thanks people for their patience while this improvement work is carried out.

The work will be carried out by Norfolk County Council’s Community and Environmental Services Department and their contractors.
