Roads closed for Tour of Britain

POLICE in Great Yarmouth are urging local residents to be aware of parking restrictions for the Round Britain Cycle Race.

The event will take place on Thursday, September 16, and parking will be prohibited on a number of roads to ensure the safety of those taking part and spectators.

The event will take place on Thursday, September 16, and parking will be prohibited on a number of roads to ensure the safety of those taking part and spectators.

Parking restrictions will come into force from 10am on Wednesday, September 15, for residents of Jellicoe Road and from the early hours on Thursday (September 16) morning for residents on North Drive, Marine Parade, Trafalgar Road, Yarmouth Way, South Quay, South Denes Road, Main Cross Road, and South Beach Parade.

Road closures will also be put in place on Thursday for safety reasons at the following locations:

Dickens Avenue will be closed at the junction with South Beach Parade.

Main Cross Road will be closed from South Denes Road and South Beach Parade.

South Beach Parade will be closed between the junctions of Kings Road and Main Cross Road.

Access will be maintained for residents and pedestrians.

Letters will be delivered to residents and businesses in areas affected by the road closures and parking restrictions and leaflets will also be placed on vehicles parked in the areas.

David Law, traffic Management officer with Norfolk Constabulary, said: “These measures have been put in place to ensure this event passes without incident and I apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
