THEY may be more used to playing in Norfolk and Suffolk pubs or clubs, but now four-piece band Canine Feline could be basking in the Hollywood sun and limelight.

The rock group, from the Yarmouth and Halesworth areas, are through to the semi-finals of a global talent competition that may see them flying out to Los Angeles to meet top music producers and make a video.

But Canine Feline will not only need their musical wits about them to clinch the prize - they need the support of rock music lovers from across East Anglia to support them.

By winning last month's heat of the iChooz internet-based tournament, Canine Feline are just one stage away from rock stardom.

However, in order to progress beyond February's semi-finals the band is relying on people to log on to their computers and vote for the group, who regularly perform in front of 100 fans with their “powerful and melodic rock” style.

The band - lead singer Rebecca Nudd, guitarist James Dean, bassist Arron Clarke and drummer Steve Chapman - already owe a debt of thanks to hundreds of rock fans, especially from America, who voted for them in the first heat and helped beat off nine rival groups.

James, 27, a personal trainer from Yarmouth, said: “We were totally amazed to be chosen for the semi-finals. It seems the Americans just love our style of music and the fact we have a powerful female lead singer. But we certainly do need as many people as possible to vote for us to make sure we win.”

If Canine Feline beat off the other bands in the semi-finals, they will be flown to Hollywood to perform at a major venue and receive advice from rock producers Tim Kelley and Bob Robinson. The overall winner will then be given a chance to make a top- quality music video.
