A well known businessman will talk about his life in the Great Yarmouth and Gorleston hotel industry.

Rodney Scott, whose family business owns the Prom Hotel and Pier Hotel, is guest speaker at a meeting of the Civic Society of Great Yarmouth on Tuesday, July 17.

The talk is at Christchurch in King Street starting at 7.30pm.

At a recent meeting of the society, it was decided to pursue becoming a registered charity and activities outlined for the future include litter picks and a link up with Cliff Park Academy pupils who are making plant boxes to place in the St George’s Theatre area.

There also plans to make annual awards to businesses which show a civic pride in their area. The society also suggested there should be a Tourist Information Centre in the middle of the town - citing the disused Lloyds Bank in Market Place as a possible location.

The society, which was formed last year, currently has 130 members.
