Round Table's countdown to famous Turkey Ball

If it's February then it's Valentine's Turkey Ball time, when local Round Tablers aim to raise as much money as they can to support a good cause.
And since being re-formed in 2013, Great Yarmouth Round Table members have raised thousands and thousands of pounds.
From it’s re-forming to April last year, the group has raised over £11,000 for the neonatal unit at the James Paget University Hospital. And currently they are focusing on helping young people in the area by supporting Gorleston-based charity Shine and the East Coast Truckers.
To fundraise for Shine, 15 members undertook the Chairman’s Challenge in October, a 10km Mucky Races Steeplechase offroad run made significantly harder by needing to jump, scramble and hurdle over and under 30 different horse jumps and a 150 metre freezing cold river wade.
The challenge raised over £5,000 for Shine, enabling them to purchase much needed specialist play equipment, helping them to focus on supporting as many local children as possible.
The flagship event of the whole year though is the Valentine’s Turkey Ball which this month will aim to raise as much of the £6,500 cost to enable the East Coast Truckers to secure another lodge at Vauxhall Holiday Park, enabling them to provide even more local disadvantaged and disabled children with free holidays over the next year.
The ball is on Saturday, February 13 at the Ocean Room in Gorleston. Tickets for the black tie event are £45 and include a four-course meal, the famous Round Table Members Turkey Trot, music from the Lee Vasey Band and a disco, a charity raffle and auction, and a fun photo booth.
There are a few tables left, anyone interested can contact James Shipp at Lovewell Blake on 01493 335106.
