An armed police operation was launched in Great Yarmouth after reports a man was attacked by a robber armed with a samurai sword.
Victoria Road saw a heavy police presence this morning and into the afternoon as it was sealed off following the reports of a man being robbed and assaulted by two offenders at 6.55am at the town’s main Tesco store.
It was also alleged that the offenders had a samurai sword and stole clothes and jewellery from the victim’s car.
The victim sustained a minor injury that did not require treatment.
The response to the robbery report saw armed officers and a police dog unit deploy to Victoria Road with officers entering a property in the road shouting “Armed police” as they went in.
No arrested were made at the property and officers were still searching for a suspect this afternoon.
Another suspect, a teenager from Great Yarmouth, was arrested in connection with the incident and taken to Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre for questioning. He remains in custody.
