Sat nav thefts

In the past week days 13 vehicles have been broken into in the Great Yarmouth and Gorleston area.

The owners of seven of the vehicles gave opportunist thieves an open invitation to steal their sat navs by leaving them on display with one car left unlocked.

The other six vehicles had their windows smashed to gain entry. Three of the 13 vehicles in Gorleston had their doors or windows forced before thieves stole tools and power equipment.

Chief Inspector Stuart Armes said: “The simple act of marking of property is essential to assist second hand stores who we work closely with to identify stolen property thereby deterring the criminal that avenue of disposing of any items. With the help of the motorist we can halt this rise in theft from motor vehicles.”
