Great Yarmouth’s local economy depends on two things: tourists and energy companies with their large supply chains.

Together companies operating in these industries supply a huge number of jobs, whether seasonal, full-time or part-time to local people, and offer interesting career choices for lots of school leavers. As one of the UK’s top seaside resorts, more than 4.4 million people come to Great Yarmouth and the surrounding towns and villages every year, visiting tourist attractions, eating in pubs and restaurants and sleeping in holiday parks, hotels and B&Bs, together creating at least 10,000 jobs for local people and generating nearly 500 million for the local economy.

Ken Sims, chairman of the Greater Yarmouth Tourist Authority said: “Days Out on your Doorstep is a great way for local people to find out what all the fuss is about and appreciate just why Great Yarmouth is one of the most popular seaside resorts in the country at an especially discounted rate that’s just for residents.

“There are more attractions in the Greater Yarmouth area than anywhere else in Norfolk, providing plenty for all the family to do, and at these bargain rates, there’s all the more reason to get out and about on these two special weekends. We’re delighted that our local newspaper is supporting the industry too by promoting the great Days Out to everyone.”
