School pupils turn into junior chefs at special cooking day in Caister

Paul and Milly from the Junior Chefs spent a day with 122 pupils across classes among all year groups.

The pupils who wanted to take part had to enter a competition to be chosen and then had to make their favourite sweet or savoury dish.

They had to be photographed with the finished dish and send in the photograph alongside the recipe.

The pupils spent an hour in each session learning about the origins of the fruits they used, to make a Tropical Crunch.

A pupil in Year 6 won a competition to design a scene on a hessian Tesco bag, and part of the prize was a day for a large number of pupils, to work with the Chef’s Academy, who are based in Wirral.

Headteacher Coral Brinklow said: “The pupils had a fantastic day and will remember the experience for many years to come.”
