SCHOOL children across the borough are being given the chance to let their talent shine. Whether it's success in sport, the arts, technology or working in the community, schools and groups are being encouraged to sign up to next month's Shine Week celebration.

The festival, which runs from July 6 to 10, will shine a light on the unique achievements of thousands of youngsters from across the county.

Schools taking part in the Great Yarmouth area include Lynn Grove and Oriel high schools in Gorleston; Acle Primary; Alderman Swindell First School; Flegg High School, and Fleggburgh Primary School.

Sandra Govender, assistant headteacher at Lynn Grove, said: “Within each child there is a talent or skill that has been or is waiting to be discovered. Shine Week is one of a number of wonderful opportunities for schools to create the environment for such talent to emerge or develop. This is a great platform to showcase pupils' abilities and efforts.”

Departments throughout the school are organising activities during Shine Week, designed to celebrate pupils' achievement.

Every school or organisation which registers gets its own area on the Shine website, and can upload photos and videos to join a nationwide virtual hall of fame.
