The search for a woman who has gone missing in Norfolk has been called off until first light tomorrow.
Norfolk police are “growing increasingly concerned” for missing 54-year-old Carol Smalley, from Lincolnshire. Searches have been conducted along the coast near Great Yarmouth and Gorleston today.
She has not been seen since lunchtime on January 3, when she was in the Spalding area, but she is believed to have been in the Great Yarmouth area.
She had holidayed in the Hopton area when she was younger.
Her clothes and a bag were found on a beach leading to the sea.
Lifeboat and coastguard crews have been searching for her, while the rescue helicopter has been searching the coast in Gorleston.
But, with darkness having fallen, there is still no sign of her.
HM Coastguard Gorleston posted on Facebook: “Along with our flank team from Lowestoft and Southwold, Norfolk police, rescue helicopter 192, fire service, both lifeboats from Gorleston, Lowestoft lifeboat and members from Lowland Rescue a large multi agency search was carried out until darkness fell.
“Unfortunately she has not been found. A further search will be conducted at first light tomorrow. If anyone has any information please contact the police immediately on 101.”
Carol is described as white and about 5ft 3ins.
She has short dark hair and is believed to be wearing a burgundy bobble hat, a beige parka style coat with light coloured jeans and black ankle boots.
