A MAN who took indecent photographs of two nine-year-old girls using his own makeshift studio and sexually abused them has received a three-year jail sentence.

Paul Mayo, 43, was also placed on the sex offenders' register for life and banned from ever working with children.

Norwich Crown Court was told on Friday that Mayo had got one of the girls to pose in adult porn-style positions and used a bedroom as a makeshift studio with a piece of carpet over a clothes horse to make a photographic backdrop.

He also tried to make a video of the girl and attempted to get her to touch him but she refused.

William Carter, prosecuting, said Mayo also took photos of a second victim and showed her adult porn pictures. He then sexually abused the girl.

Afterwards, he warned both girls not to say anything, but they did make a complaint and when police seized his computer 269 indecent photos of children were found that he had downloaded.

Mayo, of Ordnance Road, Great Yarmouth, admitted sexually assaulting the first victim and taking indecent images of the same child. He also admitted an attempted sex assault on the second girl and taking indecent images of her. Mayo further admitted possession of indecent images.

Judge Alasdair Darroch told him: “This is truly disgusting and perverted behaviour against defenceless young girls. It is particularly serious to get a child to pose sexually for you.”

Guy Ayers, in mitigation, said Mayo was of previous good character and had pleaded guilty to spare the girls the ordeal of going to court.

He added: “He accepts that he has a problem. He wants treatment for that.”
