Brandon Lewis, prospective Conservative parliamentary candidate for Great Yarmouth and Caroline Spelman MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, this week met with Eddie Freeman, CEO of EastPort UK.
Privately owned and operated since May 2007, the port at Great Yarmouth integrates the new deep-water outer harbour with the well established river port.
Mr Lewis said: “The port has excellent potential and is starting to receive new business regularly. In the long term I hope the port will support planned offshore wind energy developments and run a roll on roll off ferry.
“The port is the closest deep-water facility to Northern Europe and with it's new container terminal and deep-water facilities, EastPort UK offers a cost effective, congestion free gateway to/from Europe and beyond.”
