MORE than 40 retail workers from a variety of Great Yarmouth traders attended a shop theft training day last week.
Organised by the Town Centre Partnership and Yarmouth police, training covered thwarting shoplifters, dealing with theft and working with officers to combat retail crime.
Shoplifting is tackled by a town centre radio system, street wardens and CCTV with a town centre exclusion scheme banning offenders.
Sixteen town centre retailers sent staff on the training held at Palmers department store.
Town centre manager Jonathan Newman said that he was pleased with the attendance and would consider holding another session ahead of the Christmas shopping rush when shoplifting often increases.
