THE continuing annual rise of entries for the Great Yarmouth and Gorleston In Bloom competition over the years has delighted organisers.

The growth in entries particularly in the community section covering community housing – private or council – was noticeable last year and now organiser Sue Hacon is hoping more people than ever will show off their green-fingered prowess in the 2011 competition.

There’s plenty of time to titivate and cultivate as judging isn’t until August, but entries must be in before June 30.

The winners of categories and special awards as well as commendations, will be announced at a special presentation ceremony at the Town Hall in October.

In all categories points are awarded for display condition, use of colours, originality, overall impact, cleanliness, absence of litter and graffiti, and evidence of environmental improvement – and the size of a garden it doesn’t matter, it can be big or small.

Group 5 Hanging basket, window boxes etc, for those not entered in groups 1-4

Group 10 Best Pub/Restaurant

Group 12 Best Commercial Premises
