A GORLESTON school has been forced to shut for the rest of the week following a sickness outbreak.
Oriel Specialist Mathematics and Computing College announced it will close from this afternoon until Monday.
The decision was made after several staff and students suffered stomach upsets over the course of the last few weeks.
A deep clean of the premises will take place while the school is closed in a bid to stop the virus spreading.
Head teacher Paul Butler, said: “Over the last six weeks we have had high levels of student and staff sickness, thought to be a result of the winter vomiting virus.
“We have been in regular contact with the Environmental Health Protection Agency and have followed all their advice around cleaning and hygiene.

“Unfortunately several students and staff are still displaying symptoms and we have now been advised to close for two days so that an intensive clean of the school can take place.
“We recognise the inconvenience this may cause to parents and students, but the health of those at the school has to remain our priority. We expect to be in a position to reopen the school on Monday.”
