ENTRANTS from across East Anglia will be taking part in next month’s East Coast 10k Run – Great Yarmouth’s blue ribbon athletics event.

More than 500 runners of all ages and abilities are expected to line up for the race on Sunday, October 24.

Starting and finishing in St George’s Park, the course will take in the town’s seafront, shopping and heritage areas.

Now in its third year, the East Coast Run is organised by Great Yarmouth Road Runners in association with Great Yarmouth Borough Council, Active Norfolk, Greater Yarmouth Tourist Authority and Town Centre Partnership.

The minimum age on race day is 16. Each runner successfully completing the course will receive a memento.

Olympic runner and former Chicago Marathon winner Paul Evans is providing a week-by-week training schedule in the build-up to the race.

Borough council culture, sport and leisure manager Marie Hartley, said: “The East Coast Run is a great event to participate in for new and seasoned runners alike.

“Great Yarmouth has some unique scenery, from historic buildings to gorgeous beaches, and a super fast, flat route for road runners to enjoy.

“It’s a great pleasure to work with Great Yarmouth Road Runners to host this race in the resort.”

The run is also open to those wanting to try an event such as this for the first time, even if they might find themselves reduced to walking at some stages along the route.
