SOME performers get inspiration as they sing in the bath.

But for red-faced Charlotte Eve, taking an unwelcome dip and then a hot bath has led her to organising a charity night to thank the emergency services.

The 28-year-old singer and pianist from Fleggburgh sparked a major rescue operation on February 2 after her boat capsized on the Norfolk Broads.

Coastguards, the Hemsby inshore lifeboat crew, police, firefighters and a RAF helicopter combed the Filby Broad for more than an hour after Ms Eve's upturned boat was discovered.

But blissfully unaware that the search was going on, Ms Eve took a hot bath after she had swum through the ice-cold waters to safety.

She was about to ring up the emergency services to inform them about her boat, when police came and asked if she was in.

As a vote of thanks to the emergency services, the talented singer, who released her first album Unembroidered last year, is performing a fundraising concert in the Norwich Forum on April 20.

Money raised will go to the Coast Guard Association and the Hemsby lifeboat.

Ms Eve, who admits she was a bit sheepish over the incident, said: “I never realised that so many organisations and people can be involved in a search.

“They all play an important role in saving lives and I am glad I can play a concert in support of some of them.”

Anyone wanting to attend the concert at the Café Bar Marzano in the Norwich Forum, which starts at 7.30pm on Sunday, April 20, can order a £5 ticket by e-mailing charlotteevemusic@hotmail.co.uk or pay on the door.
