But in true Dad's Army style “Don't panic!”
It was in fact year one pupils from Southtown Infants School using the sirens and horns of police cars following a visit by members of the Cobholm and Southtown safer neighbourhood team.
Police community support officers Martin Chapman and Jenna Harding helped make pupils' day by taking a police van, car and bike into school.
Children also had fun with the kiddie's mini police car N1CK, but the highlight was turning on sirens, beeping horns and switching on the blue flashing lights.
The visit was held as part of purple class' project on transport.
