SPECIAL PRESENTATION: There was a buzz of pride and elation at a special presentation evening in the Imperial Hotel, Great Yarmouth.

A group of Gardline staff, joined by their partners, were welcomed by members of senior management at a reception in recognition of their success in attaining a Chartered Management Institute Level 5 Diploma in Management and Leadership.

This group were the latest employees to receive the Diploma and were congratulated by HR manager, Mark Browning, along with managing directors Paul Stanley and Mervyn Wooltorton, who paid tribute to their commitment to study and their success in reaching Level 5. Designed for practising middle managers who want to develop their core management skills and guidance, it focuses on the personal development of the individual learner’s management capabilities and competencies.

One of the recipients was Sally Dalrymple, a project manager based at Gardline’s Geosciences Company. Sally joined Gardline 10 years ago as a part-time cleaner but after a year, she successfully applied for a position as an administrative assistant. Once established as part of the team there, she was later promoted to project manager for work awarded to the Ocean Discovery, a geotechnical survey vessel.

During this time she was determined to study outside of the normal working environment which resulted in her gaining this prestigious diploma. Sally said it was difficult at times – the many hours needed to complete the course often meant she had to carefully balance family, work and study obligations; however the pride in reaching her goal was obviously well worth the commitment.
