THEIR journey may have been a bit choppy, but for 100 jet skiers travelling along the Norfolk coast yesterday helped to raise at least 10,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The 4th bi-annual charity jet ski event based at Sea Palling saw the large group of fast moving sea goers travel from the village's scenic beach to Yarmouth and then after a re-fuelling stop go on to Cromer.

It took the jet skiers, who came from as far a field as Sheffield and Anglesey, up to four hours to complete their 100km journey.

Deaf and blind jet ski record holder Graham “G Force” Hicks, from Peterborough, also took part in the event, which saw choppy waters on the way to Yarmouth and thankfully a more calmer North Sea on the Cromer leg.

Each rider paid 100 to Macmillan to take part in the event, which was organised by Beach Rock Leisure, of Sea Palling.

Gayle Deary, from Beach Rock Leisure, said: “It was a fantastic day and everyone had great fun.

“The reason we chose Macmillan Cancer Support was because one of our customers died from cancer on Christmas Day and she had asked if we could raise money to help fight cancer.”

The three previous jet ski rallies had raised about 25,000 for good causes, including the Big C cancer charity and DeafBlindUK.
