EASTPORT UK has confirmed it is to sponsor a local stand at Offshore Europe 2009 - supporting about 20 local companies from Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft.

The sponsorship will see EastPort UK take a prime position on the custom-built 115sq m stand at the exhibition in Aberdeen and also host one of the popular daily stand receptions which have drawn crowds in previous years.

EastPort UK is the developing the £50m Outer Harbour.

GYMI (Great Yarmouth Marketing Initiative), EEEGR (East of England Energy Group) and Waveney District Council make up the partnership behind the stand and project manager Stephanie Pimlott said they were delighted EastPort UK were supporting the Offshore Europe. “It is such an important oil and gas exhibition,” she added.

Eddie Freeman, EastPort UK chief executive, said: “We recognise the huge importance of the oil and gas industry in the Southern North Sea and the continuing role we can play in this industry.

“It is vital for EastPort UK to promote its services to offshore companies and also show our support for the supply chain in the Yarmouth area.”

Further details on how local companies can participate on the stand will be unveiled at an event on Monday , at the Cliff Hotel, Gorleston, and is open to all interested businesses.

Mrs Pimlott added: “About 40 companies have expressed their interest in participating on our community stand and we are expecting a high turnout at the launch.”
