GREAT Yarmouth College opened its car parks to residents benefiting from Southtown’s Community Spring Clean.
People living on Lichfield, Wolsley, Station, Stafford, Albany, Anson and Gordon roads were invited to park on the Suffolk Road campus to clear their streets for drain flushing and kerb cleaning.
Student volunteers on the college’s VTalent programme helped with the litter pick during the week-long project sporting college ambassador t-shirts.
College principal Penny Wycherley said the college had a responsibility to its neighbours to play its part in community efforts.
She said: “We are delighted to be able to help out with the Community Spring Clean, by involving our VTalent volunteers to help with the litter picking and also by offering reserved parking on our campus for residents while the adjoining streets are cleaned.”
The clean up by Make It Happen, supported by Great Yarmouth Borough Council’s Environmental Rangers and GYBS, also involved a team from probation service’s Community Payback scheme.
