A NEW fundraising event for St Elizabeth Hospice has been launched.

Rise and Shine will offer a two, five or 10 mile morning route around Fritton Lake for the hospice on Sunday, September 16.

The charity is encouraging people to sign up whether they want a relaxing two mile walk, a more challenging two or five mile walk or run, or the option of a 10 mile run.

St Elizabeth Hospice events fundraiser Leanne Carhart said: “Rise and Shine will be our first fundraising event in the Great Yarmouth and Waveney area organised by the Hospice, since we expanded our services there.

“Fritton Lake provides a perfect setting for the early morning walk or run.”

Registration for the five mile route starts from 6.30am and for the two mile from 8.30am, but you can still participate if you can’t make the start time. Registration is 10 for all participants, under 13s are free.

Fritton Lake’s owners will be allowing dogs to join in on this occasion and the routes are wheelchair and pushchair friendly.

A children’s trail is also included on the two mile walk. Every participant will receive a medal and dogs will receive a rosette.

Walkers are asked to raise sponsorship for the hospice, a charity which is investing 2.2m in local care for local people in north Suffolk and south east Norfolk over the next three years.

This year the Hospice opened inpatient beds and day services in north Suffolk, including Day Services at the Crossroads Care Centre, Lowestoft. A further day service is due to open in Great Yarmouth in the autumn.

Online registration is now open or people can sign up by requesting a registration form.
