PARENTS enjoyed “sum” fun at St George's First School's numeracy open morning.
Mums and dads parents observed and took part in a number of maths related activities with their children.
Numeracy leader Jamie Kirkham, said: “In order for parents to support their children it is vital that they know what we teach in numeracy and how we teach it. They are then in a better position to reinforce this learning at home.”
As part of the morning, parents of Key Stage 1 pupils observed and took part in a planned numeracy lesson demonstrating how the school teaches the subject. Children and parents joined in a variety of activities including: solving problems using addition and subtraction skills and going on a maths trail.
The morning finished with a whole school celebration assembly which was well attended by parents. Children were presented with maths certificates for taking part and a big thank you was said to the parents.
