A GREAT Yarmouth church has raised �50,000 of the �750,000 needed to completely renovate its historic organ and the four pinnacles of the tower.The money was raised by the St Nicholas Church Preservation Trust for the renovation work to St Nicholas Church in Church Plain, though the trust is appealing for more donations and is hopeful more grant aid will be forthcoming.

A GREAT Yarmouth church has raised �50,000 of the �750,000 needed to completely renovate its historic organ and the four pinnacles of the tower.

The money was raised by the St Nicholas Church Preservation Trust for the renovation work to St Nicholas Church in Church Plain, though the trust is appealing for more donations and is hopeful more grant aid will be forthcoming.

More fundraising events are planned, including:

June 27 3pm - 5pm: Summer Music and Afternoon Tea in St. Nicholas Church with Felicity Devonshire (contralto) accompanied by Richard Wiley (guitar) and Terry Cunnane (piano).

July 3 at 7.30pm: Trad Jazz in the south aisle of St. Nicholas Church with Redbeans 'n' Rice and guest trumpeter Norman Thatcher, who has played with tribute bands to Ken Colyer, the renowned jazz trumpeter, who was born in Gt. Yarmouth.

A bar will be available.

July 5 at 7.30pm: The Masquers will perform Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet in the Priory Hall, Priory Plain, Gt. Yarmouth. The costumes are supplied by the Royal Shakespeare Company at Stratford. This will be the first amateur performance of Romeo and Juliet in Great Yarmouth for 50 years.
