Children from St Nicholas Priory Middle School enjoyed a trip to the Anna Sewell House Restaurant. The children, all members of the newly formed cookery club, were treated to afternoon tea, a tour of the building and a reading of Black Beauty. The house, the birthplace of the best selling children's author is now owned by chef Richard Hughes and, as part of a nationwide initiative to get children cooking, he thought it would be a great idea to combine two of life's great pleasure, eating and reading. Head chef Julia Hetherton also provided the children with recipes for their new club, and hoped the link lead to closer links between the school and the restaurant. “The children were absolutely enthralled by the building, particularly the original bedroom with its sloping floor, tiny windows and dolls house staircase. This with the added addition of chocolate cake made it a really memorable day,” explained Julia.
