A charity calendar featuring staff of Survival Systems International (SSI) in Great Yarmouth has raised 515 and helped alert more people to a rare hereditary illness PKU (Phenylketonuria) and the work of the charity NSPKU.

Claire Gutteridge, Survival Systems' business development co-ordinator, said: “Our aim was to raise awareness of PKU and I believe we have succeeded in doing this by selling all the calendars we had printed at Christmas and the publicity we received.”

Andy Dickson, an SSI offshore field service technician whose four-year-old daughter Aimee has PKU, is planning more fundraising events for 2010, including a parachute jump and golf day.

Claire said: “I'd like to thank local companies like Eng-Tech, Westgate Fastenings, J&M Edwards, Eastern Fluid Power, Flameskill, Kirklands, Outland, STM Rewinds, City Electrical, Tyco, Paperclip, Jesters and AW Calver, to name but a few, for their kind generosity and support for our calendar and such a good cause.”
