ON the last day of term children from Stalham Pre-school together with the pre-school manager, Melanie Perry, visited Stalham Staithe Surgery and Sydney House Care home for the elderly in Stalham, to present them each with a framed picture painted by the children.

The pictures were painted earlier in the year for a school art festival exhibited at Stalham Junior School. Each school was tasked with producing artwork in the style of a famous artist.

Melanie explained: “We chose the work of Jackson Pollock as our inspiration. He was an artist who was famous for working on large canvasses laid on the floor and then spattering, dripping, pouring paint onto them with great energy, and adding things like sand for texture. So you can see how the children would love to get really messy doing their very own 'Jackson Pollock' masterpiece. And they really did and oh what a mess they made too - paint everywhere!

“But I think, everyone would agree the finished pictures are really good to look at and I hope visitors to the surgery and the residents of Sydney House enjoy them as much as we have.”
