AT the end of term children from Stalham Infants enjoyed a morning discovering the wonders of woodland, in an event run by volunteers from local group Canopy.
AT the end of term children from Stalham Infants enjoyed a morning discovering the wonders of woodland, in an event run by volunteers from local group Canopy.
Youngsters were taken to a small copse on the edge of the recreation ground, which volunteers from Canopy have been managing for the past two years.
Anne Boddy, chair of Canopy, said: “This is just a small woodland area but children love to visit and this type of outdoor learning really inspires young children.”
Canopy is affiliated to the woodland charity Green Light Trust and is aiming to establish a woodland in Stalham - planted, owned and enjoyed by the whole community.
The project is looking for suitable land to establish a woodland and pupils are already growing young English oaks from acorns in their tree nursery in the school grounds. It is hoped that they will be able to plant them out one day into a permanent woodland home.
