Organisers of Great Yarmouth’s annual Food Festival hope it will cut the mustard again this year, as stalls prepare to take to the streets for a three-day extravaganza.

The celebration, which starts at 10am on September 26, has already attracted 12 stalls aiming to showcase the variety of food and drink on offer in the borough.

Stalls will line the Market Place putting on cooking demonstrations from local chefs and free tastings from local producers and restaurateurs.

And on the Friday and Saturday, shoppers will be able to buy seafood, meat, fruit, vegetables and produce from the permanent market traders.

Among the offerings hoping to tempt visitors’ taste buds will be crispy duck wraps from The Duck Truck, artisan breads from Copland Family Bakers and waffles on a stick from The Waffle Works.

On the Friday, chef lecturers from Great Yarmouth College will be on hand give demonstrations on how to whip up Thai curry pastes and a classic apple strudel.

Norfolk’s Chef of the Year 2014, Daniel Smith from the Ingham Swan and Mark Dixon, of the King’s Arms in Fleggburgh, will cook on the Saturday and Jake Weatherall of catering company Florentina will follow on the Sunday.

Council Leader Trevor Wainwright, said: “The Great Yarmouth Food Festival 2014 looks set to be the biggest and best yet, staged for the first time over three days, and on a flagship weekend too, because last year’s one-day event exceeded all expectations.

“Whatever your tastes, there will be something for you, and plenty of opportunity to try something new. So I urge everyone to come down, grab a bite, watch the expert food demos and listen to some live music.

“Let’s make the 2014 festival another fantastic showcase of local mouth-watering produce, including that which is available year-round from the traders on the historic Market Place.”

The festival will run from September 26 to 28, 10am to 4pm each day. To book a pitch for £135, call Duncan Mallet on 01493 846 403 before the September 19 booking deadline.
