WHILE the rest of the country was shrouded in cloud a stargazer from Winterton enjoyed a momentary weather window to view and photograph the first solar eclipse of 2011.
Martin Stirland has travelled all over the world to view eclipses but was able to take this stunning shot showing the moon partly obscuring the rising sun, on his doorstep.
He said that although only a partial eclipse seeing it rise over the sea this morning (Tuesday) was “a real spectacle”.
