A CHEEKY cat led firefighters a merry dance on a Great Yarmouth roof after apparently becoming stranded then promptly clambering back down to the ground.

The black cat had managed to climb onto the roof of Shoes Galore in Regent Road on Sunday, attracting the attention of Patricia Hazell, who runs the Pound Corner shop opposite Shoes Galore.

However, she said when she went over to see the cat it made no attempt to climb down and appeared relaxed so she did not take any further action.

But on Tuesday concerned staff from Regent Bowl decided to call the RSPCA after the cat refused to come down after they tried to coax it with food.

The animal welfare charity then called the fire service to get it down, but the crafty moggy gave the firefighters the slip, running down to the ground via the roof of the neighbouring House of Wax ticket kiosk before running away.
