Strictly teachers come dancing

A GROUP of six boys, together with their teacher Dan Coombes beat off stiff competition from seven other teams to win the first ever “Strictly Teachers Come Dancing” at Flegg High School on Thursday night.

A GROUP of six boys, together with their teacher Dan Coombes beat off stiff competition from seven other teams to win the first ever “Strictly Teachers Come Dancing” at Flegg High School on Thursday night.

All the teams had spent the previous few weeks perfecting their routines for the big night. Tickets were sold out with 200 people attending.

Each team was made up of both pupils and teachers and over 40 pupils and 12 staff were involved in the dancing with many more helping back stage and front of house. The teams performed their routines in front of a judging panel, which included head teacher Russell Boulton. The scores were combined with the audience vote at the interval to find the winner.

The winning team, The Coombes Bears, was made up of Reece Evans, Stanley Barron, Oscar Bews-Miller, Jack Mayhew-Stone, Charles Tennent and Josh McNelis and teacher Dan Coombes.

The evening was hosted by deputy head Mike Ward as “Brucie” and Ginnu Stockings at “Tess”.

Mike Ward said: “Not only was the evening exciting and entertaining, the dancing was of the highest quality and best of all, it raised around �1,000 for Childline and Children in Need.”

It is all set to become an annual event.
